Full Throttle NZ Jet Ski Marathon

Get set for non-stop action at the Wellington waterfront this weekend as around 200 jet skis race across the Cook Strait in the first ever Full Throttle NZ Jet Ski Marathon.

Using 12,000 horsepower, racing across 150 kilometres of open water for $2500 in prize money, this will be one of Wellington's most exciting competitions this year.

The only break in this epic water race will be a short half-way stop to refuel.

The competitors' safety is imperative and 11-time Cook Strait swimmer Philip Rush was employed to plan the circuit.

In typical adrenalin junkie fashion the Full Throttle NZ Jet Ski Marathon will be followed by an even bigger after-party at the Wellington Rowing Association Function Centre in the Boat Shed.

New Zealand rock band 48 May headline the party. They'll be joined by the Jim Beam Party Crew girls, while New Zealand sky diving champ Greg (No-fear) Fever will attempt to sky dive into Queens Wharf, land on a Jet Ski and ride away. There'll also be heaps of prizes up for grabs. Don't miss out.
